Depending on the size of the knife, you cut the iron into an appropriate length using a hardy chisel. For making a big-size knife, fold it over and forge it together. |

You start to forge it into a shape of a knife, in the order of tongue, spine, and edge.

In order to make a tougher blade, Dave beats it to the taper on the edge by the hammer.

Gradually, let it cool to room temperature.

Start from coarse grinding to fine grinding by changing the numbers of the grinder belt, and finish it to final shape.

Secure the blade in a vise and start finishing the surface. From this point, Dave never uses power tools. Everything is done by hand.

Burn it using a torch. For Wire Damascus, burn only the edge part. Heat it up till the non-magnet point is reached. Burn it and place it in the oil.

Place it in the oven preheated to 3.75 degrees and bake it.

Put it in hydrochloric acid for awhile until the pattern comes out.

If you desire, dye it black with gun bluing, showing the pattern upwards.

Finish the footing such as guard, handle, etc.
